Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about The Ember Gathering

General Questions

Do you welcome LGBTQ+ people and chosen families?

Yes. Ember is explicitly LGBTQ+ affirming. We honor chosen names and pronouns, provide gender-inclusive restrooms where possible, and train volunteers to support inclusive practices.

Who should attend?

Seekers, doubters, dreamers, and anyone reclaiming faith from systems of oppression and exclusion.

When are tickets available?

Tickets will be available starting August 15, 2025. Sign up for our email list to be notified!

How do I request ASL, seating, or other accommodations?

Tell us during checkout or use the form on this page (select "Accessibility Needs" as the subject). Learn more about our accessibility commitments.

Where is the gathering located?

The main venue is Oakstop in Oakland, CA, with Saturday breakouts at The New Parkway Theater.

Can I volunteer?

Yes! We'd love your help. Apply to volunteer here.

Will Ember be livestreamed?

No, Ember will not be livestreamed. A core part of the gathering is the embodied, in-person experience—sharing space, connection, and community together. While we won't be streaming the event live, we are exploring ways to make select recordings, highlights, or resources available after the gathering so that those unable to attend in person can still engage with some of the content.

Families & Children

Are kids welcome?

Yes. Families are welcome. We know that faith, healing, and community aren't just individual journeys—they ripple through our families too. While The Ember Gathering is designed primarily for adults, families are welcome to be part of the sacred space we're creating. We trust you to discern what participation looks like for your family, and we'll do our best to make sure everyone feels they belong in our shared sacred rebellion.

Do children need tickets?

Yes. Every person, including children, must have their own ticket so we can manage capacity and safety. Teens (ages 13–18) are invited to join the full Ember experience with a $99 ticket. Kids 12 and under are welcome to attend for free, but they still need a (free) ticket for capacity and safety planning.

Is there children's programming or childcare?

No. We will not be offering childcare, special programming, or designated seating areas for children. Parents and guardians are responsible for their minors at all times.

Can volunteers or staff watch my child or walk them to the restroom?

No. Volunteers and staff do not supervise, accompany, or transport minors.

Are unaccompanied minors allowed?

No. For safety reasons, no unaccompanied minors will be allowed at The Ember Gathering.

Can my teen roam on their own?

No. Minors must remain with their parent or legal guardian at all times.

What's a "minor" for these guidelines?

Anyone under 18.
